Dealing with fear?

Let's Help Someone

What brings fear to your heart? Losing your health, losing your job, or could it be loss of loved one? There are many things that can lead our hearts to being gripped by fear. I can see the evil power behind fear as I read accounts of men killing themselves and their families. It appears that many don't know how to handle life today. We do live in uncertain times. The Bible warns us about these times. 2 Tim.3:1  In the last days perilous times shall come..Then it goes on to say how men will respond during these times. The word perilous means hard, difficult or fierce.

I don't know of anyone not touched by these perilous times we are in. You may feel that some have life more difficult than others, but then who can measure what is more difficult? We don't know what that person is going through on the inside. We don't know the demonic assault a person is under. We are all in this together and we must encourage and strengthen one another.

Dan and I just went through a very difficult time of Dan being unemployed for 13 months. It has been hard, but we have been through worse so we knew we would be alright. I am concerned over people that have never gone through anything. How are these people making it? People that don't have the hope of knowing God's love, how are they coping with these perilous times we are in? Let's not be so consumed with what we are going through and miss that others around us may not have the hope we have in trusting God.

There is no fear in God's love. 1 Jn.4:18 Perfect love drives out fear. 1 Tim. 1:7 For God has not given us the spirit of fear, but of power, love and a sound mind. This speaks the opposite of what causes people to be gripped with fear. It is an ungodly spirit that causes people to take their lives and the lives of their families. The devil comes to steal, kill and destroy but Jesus said I come to bring life and life more abundantly. Yes, abundant life even in the midst of difficult times. Jesus said in the world you shall have tribulation, but be of good cheer because I have overcome the world.

Friends this means that no matter what we are facing, Jesus has overcome the difficulty so this is our hope. We will make it through so be of good cheer. We can have a smile because of our hope. We can give encouraging words because of Jesus and the hope that He has set in our hearts. The hope of glory lives in us.

Lord, show us who to reach out to today. Lead us to that one that may be dealing with ending their life. Help us to help them. We thank you Lord that nothing can separate us from your love.
