It's All About Timing
The times of change from one season to the next, one job to the next or one city to the next, are sometimes difficult to understand and accept as God's way. When we recognize that God has already seen what is ahead and is working to get us into that place for our future, we will move forward with greater ease. God wants to keep you and me in His timing fully functioning in the earth with His power and love. The Lord gave me a prophetic word about appointments that He has for us that are on His calendar. As you read this word I hope it will minister to you in your present circumstances.
"You have appointments ahead of you. You have appointments on your calendar that you know not of. You don't know about these appointments. These are appointments that are awaiting you, but they are awaiting you past the doors - past the doors as you are on your way from the land of death to the land of bread. These are appointments that are on the calendar of God for you. It's got your name on it. These are divine appointments. They are with people you have not met. They are in places where you have not been before. You don't even know the addresses. If you heard the address, you would not know what area it was. These appointments are not only to position you but also your children and grandchildren. They are to position your future generations. You are thinking about you and the Lord says, stop thinking only of yourself. Come out of that self-focus. That is keeping your future generations from receiving their divine appointments. This is not about you - you are just the instrument to start this destiny in your generation. The Lord says, I'm calling forth daughters-in-law and sons-in-law through this positioning. Be willing to close the door to the past even though it is comforting to have your own surroundings and to know what is going to happen next. Come out of death and come into life, and I will have surprises for you, surprises and gifts that surpass any comfort that you now know. You will be waking up every morning wanting to know what new things I am going to be doing for you. My child, I want you to live this way. I want you to live looking forward to every meal I place before you."
Anticipate the future.
This is really a word about trust. With trust in God it should be in your nature to look forward to each day, with all the changes and every appointment as keeping you on God's schedule - not dreading the changes, but looking forward to the changes. This past week my mother faced many health challenges. The reports started out as very bleak. I asked our faithful friends and intercessors to pray. I told them that mom wants to go on to heaven, but to pray as the Lord leads them to pray. We all began praying and I heard the Lord say, "Her times are in my hands." Mom is out of the hospital and thankfully has been getting better. As the family waits for more specialists and test results, God continues to give us good reports. We discovered yesterday that all three of mom's doctors are in the same church and same Bible study group. God covers everything! Your times are in His hands. Acts 17:26-28 tells us, "and He made from one man every nation of mankind to live on all the face of the earth, having determined their appointed times and the boundaries of their habitation, that they would seek God, if perhaps they might grope for Him and find Him, though He is not far from each one of us; for in Him we live and move and exist, as even some of your own poets have said, "For we also are His children.'"
The word teaches that there is a time for everything in life.
Eccl.3:1-8 declares "There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under the heavens: a time to be born and a time to die, a time to plant and a time to uproot, a time to kill and a time to heal, a time to tear down and a time to build, a time to weep and a time to laugh, a time to mourn and a time to dance, a time to scatter stones and a time to gather them, a time to embrace and a time to refrain from embracing, a time to search, a time to give up, a time to keep and a time to throw away, a time to tear, a time to mend, a time to be silent and a time to speak, a time to love and a time to hate, a time for war and a time for peace." Since there is a time for everything in life, we want to stay in His time.
Keys that will help you to be in and stay in God's timing:
Don't work to figure it all out. Put your efforts into getting your mind renewed instead of understanding everything going on around you. Start moving towards thinking like God thinks. Get into His word. Study these scriptures in Eccl. to see what position God has you in. If you are trying to plant when it is time to uproot, then you won't be cooperating with the season you are in. Ask God how He sees the issue. This will bring you into a new place of trust and His peace will fill your soul. Isa.26:3 says, "You will keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on you, because he trusts in you."
Find your role and assignments for now. There are times I would like to think I can do things I used to do when I was much younger. This is not the time to try to be the person you were. It is time for you to do many productive things right now. When King David wanted to build God a house it seemed right to him and to the prophet until God said that He would not allow it. David's son was to build the house of the Lord. David was helpful in the process, but he was not chosen to do what was in his heart at the time. This is where a desire was passed to the next generation. Some people hang onto dreams and it is not in God's time. That dream might need to be passed to the next generation. The promises of God, the prophetic words God gives many times are for your generations - you are just the carrier. David did not make it about himself, but helped his son accomplish what was in his heart. Part of your destiny is to increase and help your children and grandchildren accomplish what is in the generational blessing they have been given. I don't know about you, but when my family accomplishes something, it is like I have just accomplished the same thing. Don't waste another day, but get on God's schedule and do what you are to do today.
Embrace change and the discomfort that might come with it. Change is not meant to be comfortable. Change wasn't even comfortable for Jesus. God formed us to always be growing and therefore always changing. Staying in God's time means stretching and growing all the days of your life. If you are not changing, you are not growing. Old habits will keep you in the same old patterns having the same results. This is why it becomes easier for younger folks to deal with change than it is for older folks. You want to be healthier? Do something that will confront the bad health habits of your past and present. Do you want to live in a new city? Go towards preparing for that by getting a job there, meeting people in that territory. Change your habits! God has appointments for those that are changing and growing and trying new things.
When an eagle wants her baby eaglet to think about flying and leaving the nest, the eagle puts sharp things in that nest to make it not so comfortable. If the season of flying and soaring are on God's calendar, then He will make you uncomfortable in your nest. Get out of that nest and soar - discover new things, meet new people and anticipate what God has in store for you.
Get ready for surprises. Some miss what God is bringing because they look for the obvious of how God should work according to their mindset. God's surprises should surprise you! I know that I can look back over so many important happenings in my life and I am still amazed at how God chose to work things out for me. They were appointments He made for me when I did not even see how it could bring anything good for my life. God knows you through and through. He knows exactly where to put you and He does not want you to miss what He is doing for you today.
Let me encourage you to seek the Lord about His timing for you. Find out what season you are in. If it is preparation for something, then get prepared and stop grumbling. If it is to launch something new, then pull the trigger. If it is to have a tough conversation to make some decisions, then ask God for courage and move forward with it. Do not wait for the perfect moment because that won't come. Do what you need to do today. I am praying that God's timing will be placed in your heart and mind to do all that He has called you to do.
