A Change Starts With a Plan
If you need a fresh start in 2019, then you will need to start fresh!
Dan and I are totally on board to start fresh this year. Last year was a difficult year for us as we endured many health issues. Thankfully we are overcoming every obstacle, but it hasn't been easy. We are so grateful for all the support our family and friends have given us. The Lord has taught us many valuable lessons during this trying season. We are so grateful to God for His grace through it all.
This year Dan and I are being restored physically and we want to stay on that road to greater health. In order to have a fresh start it will require that we change some things. That's how it always is. No one gets a fresh start without some type of change. Fresh starts require new patterns or habits. There are so many ways to go towards change and I want to share some with you that I feel will help you to get a fresh start in 2019.
Gain a new strategy
For whatever change you are going to make you will need a strategy to get there. If you don't have a plan for this change you will just continue doing the same things and getting the same results. You might want to change your health, your spiritual life, the way you raise your children, career changes, the way you function in your business, or the way you do your finances. Getting a plan is sometimes the challenge and you usually will need outside help for that. Now if you are a person that doesn't ever ask for help or acknowledge you need help, then there won't be a lot of change you can experience. Living isolated will cause you to only see life through one set of eyes, your own. Those that prosper and thrive in life are those that know how to ask for help and are open to another's perception.
The kind of help you need might be a therapist, counselor or life coach. Help comes in many forms. One of the most productive times we have experienced in our own lives is when Dan and I asked for advice from a wealth attorney. Our financial situation at the time was not good, but that is why we were seeking help from someone that knew more about wealth than we did. This attorney taught us many things that we had never heard of and we are prospering today because of the help we received. Maybe you need to get a fitness expert or join a class in a certain subject. The support and help you get from others will help you multiply and gain strength. God never called us to do life alone. Even Jesus had his twelve, his three and his one closest friend. If you will reach out, help is on the way!!
Establish new habits or patterns
In order to establish new habits, you have to break an old one. Find a new pattern that will fit with what you are trying to accomplish. Young people tend to do this quicker than those of us that are older. Don't hold on too tight to what is comfortable. That comfortable thing might be in the way of the miracle you have been asking God for. You need to have an attitude that you want something in your life to change so much that you are willing to release the comfort that the old lifestyle gives you. This will bring to you new ideas, and your perception will change.
Moses led the children of Israel out of slavery in Egypt into a land that God had promised them. God was not requiring much of them at first as He knew they could not handle much. As soon as Moses was gone and Joshua became their leader, God demanded that they change their way of doing things. Instead of food outside their tent every morning, they had to learn how to plant and harvest their own food. They had to learn to fight their own battles for the land that God was giving them. This change was certainly not easy or comfortable, but God knew they could handle it. God led them into their promised land and He will do that for you too. Is God requiring something new from you that you have never done? As you establish new patterns, He will give you the grace and courage in order to receive the reward He has waiting for you.
Rewards are waiting
Rewards are important because rewards help us to endure through the hard times. Jesus for the joy set before Him endured the cross. The cross was His call, but His reward was us. He died for us to have life. That was His joy. When you see the reward, endurance is strengthened. There will be times you will be tempted to give up. Gal. 8:9 promises, "And let us not be weary in well doing for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not." Picture that reward. Make a list of your rewards so that you will stay focused on what it is you want to change.
Reward yourself along the way
Don't miss out on the joy of the present just because you have not attained what you want. Get some rewards ready for yourself so that you will be in an overcoming state at all times. Parents do this with their children to let them know that there is also pleasure in the present moment even though you don't see everything you want to see right now. You must have a reward system that works for you, so get one. If you want to lose weight, you might want to have one meal a week to eat what you want. For some that doesn't work, but for others it might be the reward they need to stay on track for their goal.
I have kept this simple because that is what you need right now, simple. Start small - don't try to tackle too many changes at once. Ask God to help you with this and put your new strategy before Him. Each day activate that new plan and see what God does in your life. What do you need a fresh start in? Whatever it is I encourage you to find your way to start fresh in 2019!
